EDITORIAL METHOD / WEBSEC.GR

How we read
the evidence.

Our research desk connects readers to original security research and explains what the findings support.

Research briefs with a visible source

websec.gr publishes educational material about digital forensics, malware analysis, mobile security and defense. Our news briefs are original editorial summaries of linked primary publications. A summary is not an independent replication of the underlying research.

Know what kind of evidence you are reading

Vendor telemetry, incident case studies, technical guidance and formal research answer different questions. We identify the source, explain its method where available, and retain limitations about visibility, sample selection and attribution. A vendor report is not presented as a peer-reviewed scientific paper.

Source dates and briefing dates

The archive orders research briefings by the original source’s publication date. Each new brief also shows when websec.gr prepared it. Older articles remain in the earlier archive with their original context. The July–September 2026 collection was reviewed on 26 September 2026.

Images and attribution

Article previews use artwork or figures supplied with the corresponding publication, or images preserved with the original site archive. When an advisory has no article artwork, a clearly labeled preview of the source page is used. The image credit links to the publication. Source images remain the property of their respective rights holders.

Automatic source updates

Items marked “Source update” are collected from the official feeds of Microsoft Security, Google Security, Google Threat Intelligence, Cisco Talos, ESET, The DFIR Report and the SANS Internet Storm Center. The source desk selects material about cybersecurity, digital forensics, malware analysis, incident response, vulnerabilities, cloud/mobile security and cryptography. General business announcements, product promotions and event notices are filtered out.

The desk checks for new material every hour once the hosting schedule is active, prevents duplicate sources and publishes matching entries directly. Each entry shows the publisher’s headline, source publication date, a short attribution and a link to the full publication. The collection date is shown separately. These updates help readers discover new source material; they have not received the review applied to our authored research briefs.

Automatic updates use a websec.gr illustrative preview, labeled as a source update. This graphic is shared by the homepage, archive, article and social preview; it is not artwork from the underlying publication. For technical findings, severity, corrections and current recommendations, read the linked original source.

Corrections and context

If a source changes, a date is incorrect or a finding needs more context, please send the article URL and the supporting reference to info@websec.gr. We welcome corrections. Consult the current primary advisory before making an operational decision from an archived brief.
